Literature Text

Wild hope in the sunlight of unfinished glances,
And lithe limbs and hands in uncontained dances
Hold back the floods of mountain-cold rains,
And the heart-sick low sounds of violin strains.
Life pours in rivulets down from on high
And tears at the seams of cloud-covered sky.
It breathes, it is rhythmic, it settles in places
In laugh lines and smiles on wondering faces.
It taps on stiff shoulders and whispers a word
Till creaking old bones are sleepily stirred.
It's life in the morning, wild hope and light;
It burns through the shadows and gives eyes new sight.
It's held out and taken by hands without fear--
It is life, uncontained, incandescent and near.
Wild hope takes hold of the life blood in me,
Explodes in my heart, and reminds me I'm free.
This is life. In the midst of routine, tiredness, sadness, and fear. Life breathes.
